Some Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction to speculation that Spurs have agreed a deal in principle with Bologna over the transfer of Takehiro Tomiyasu.
What’s the story?
Italian news outlet Calciomercato.it have reported that Tottenham are close to signing Tomiyasu from Bologna.
Spurs have reached an agreement in principle with the Serie A club over the signing of the Japan international defender in the summer transfer window.
Tottenham will pay Bologna €20 million in transfer fee (£17.07m) excluding bonuses for the 22-year-old, who can play as a centre-back or as a right-back.
However, the two clubs have yet to reach an agreement on payment terms.
What are Tottenham Hotspur fans saying?
As you can see from the tweets below, Tottenham fans are delighted to read the report about Tomiyasu.
Well, some of them anyway.
Tottenham need to bring in a central defender, especially as Toby Alderweireld has left.
Tomiyasu is a very versatile defender who can play as a right-back, centre-back or even left-back.
In Serie A last season, the 22-year-old played 16 times as a centre-back, 13 times as a right-back, and twice as a left-back.
Moreover, Tomiyasu is only 22, which means that he is only going to get better in the coming years.
