David Provan has urged Celtic not to sign Joe Hart from Tottenham Hotspur and to move for Benjamin Siegrist of Dundee United instead, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.

The Celtic legend believes that Hart would be very expensive in terms of his wages, and has said that the Tottenham goalkeeper is prone to making mistakes.

Provan has added that instead of signing former Manchester City goalkeeper Hart, Celtic should bring in 29-year-old Swiss goalkeeper Siegrist from the Tangerines instead.

Joe Hart interest

The Daily Record reported this week that Celtic are interested in signing Hart from Spurs this summer.

The Hoops have already been in contact with Tottenham.

The North London club are looking for £1 million as transfer fee for the 34-year-old, who earns £2.5 million in salary.

What David Provan says

Provan wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Ange Postecoglou should ignore any advice to sign Joe Hart.

“There’s a reason Hart was bombed by England, Manchester City and couldn’t get a game for Burnley. He’s always had a ricket in him.

“For a fraction of Hart’s wages, Celts could sign Dundee United’s Benji Siegrist who’s now in the last year of his contract. No brainer.”

Joe Hart or Benjamin Siegrist?

Hart is a big-name player and is very experienced, but the Englishman is 34 now.

The Tottenham goalkeeper could do a good job for Celtic in the short term, but there will be doubts whether he is the man for the long run.

Siegrist, a former Switzerland Under-21 international, is 29 now, at the top of his game at the moment, and has done well for United since moving to the club in 2018.
