Jose Enrique has urged Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool to make a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, as quoted in Empire of the Kop.
The former Liverpool star believes that the Reds should go all in for the 21-year-old striker.
Enrique has outlined the attributes of the Norway international striker.
What Jose Enrique says
The Sky Sports and Stadium Astro pundit told Empire of the Kop: “If I had the money, I’d go all-in for Erling Haaland, I don’t care!
“There’s rumours of Kylian Mbappe too, but with the money he earns at Paris Saint-Germain, he could unbalance the finances at Liverpool – we’d then have to renew deals for Mo Salah and other players, and they’d ask for a lot more.
“I believe Roberto Firmino is a world-class player, but being honest, he hasn’t been performing at the highest level for a while. And with Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold, the amount of assists they give – imagine if they were crossing balls into Haaland.
“I love him, he has that personality, that always-want-to-win desire, he presses and is a big, strong and quick guy – he has everything. If we sign Haaland, I wouldn’t even care if we didn’t sign anyone else this summer.”
Blockbuster potential transfer
Haaland is one of the best strikers in the world and is only 21.
The Norwegian has been tearing apart defences in the Bundesliga and the Champions League.
The striker scored 27 goals and gave six assists in the Bundesliga last season.
Haaland also scored 10 goals and gave two assists in the Champions League in 2020-21.
Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane are brilliant forwards, but Haaland is just 21 and would make the Reds even more potent.
The youngster is clinical, strong, quick, athletic and dynamic, and he can still get better and improve.
Could a Liverpool transfer happen?
Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay £150 million for Haaland.
Would Liverpool be willing to match or even better that?
It is also hard to see Dortmund sell Haaland this summer even for £150 million.
After all, the 21-year-old moved to the German club only in January 2020.
Dortmund will know that another strong season would increase Haaland’s price-tag even more.
The Bundesliga outfit have already sold Jadon Sancho to Manchester United this summer.
Dortmund will surely not want to part company with another big-name player ahead of the new season.
