Interest in Jack Grealish was always going to happen before the transfer deadline, and Manchester City now want to sign the Aston Villa hero.
Grealish was outstanding last season, bagging six goals and 12 assists in 26 Premier League games before playing an important role as an impact substitute for England at Euro 2020.
The 25-year-old is one of the top playmakers in the Premier League, and it’s no great surprise to see that Pep Guardiola now wants him at City.
ESPN now report that City have offered £90million for Grealish plus winger Morgan Rogers, who City value in the £10million range – taking the total worth towards the £100million mark.
Rogers, 19, joined City in 2019 and has a reputation as one of the brightest young prospects in English football.
Tall for a winger at around 6ft 2in tall, Rogers had a loan spell at League One side Lincoln City last season, bagging six goals and four assists.
Is he a ready-made Grealish replacement? No, but Rogers certainly has considerable potential and will be familiar to Villa’s academy boss Mark Harrison having worked together at West Bromwich Albion.
Many Villa fans aren’t convinced that taking a young prospect as part of the deal to sell Grealish is particularly wise, but there are some Villa supporters who like the idea.
Those fans took to Twitter to state that Rogers is a ‘class player’ and ‘very good’, believing he has major potential for the future.
Others would love Rogers to sign but preferably without Grealish leaving, and think that Villa are really keen to land him given his history with West Brom.
