For so much of this year, if Arsenal signed any player from Brighton & Hove Albion, it was going to be Yves Bissouma.

In January, Football London reported that the midfielder had his heart set on a move to the Emirates Stadium.

A few months later, Arsenal reportedly contacted the Seagulls about a £30 million deal for the player.

But there’s been very little talk about the Gunners signing Bissouma for much of the summer.

Instead, the North Londoners focused on another Brighton player in the form of Ben White, who was confirmed as an Arsenal player on Friday following a couple of months worth of speculation.

Bissouma sent his former teammate a good luck message on Instagram and here’s how some Gooners reacted on Twitter:

Ship has sailed?

The Bissouma thing just isn’t going to happen, unfortunately for the player himself and Arsenal fans.

Mikel Arteta and Edu have already signed Albert Sambi Lokonga and with Granit Xhaka staying for now, it just doesn’t make as much sense as it once did.

Of course, Xhaka could yet get his move to Roma, but at the moment he seems set to stay at the Emirates Stadium and with Thomas Partey also there, spending so much on Bissouma just seems improbable.
