Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media to reports by the Daily Mail, claiming Steve Bruce is battling Everton to sign Angers midfielder Angelo Fulgini.

Newcastle are keeping tabs on the former France U21 international as Bruce looks to add new legs to his engine room. Crystal Palace and Everton also share an interest in Fulgini, however, after the Ivory Coast-born maestro enjoyed a career-best campaign last season.

Angers are now braced for summer approaches for Fulgini, with the 24-year-old in the final two years of his contract. The £14,000-per-week star is their most prized asset, but Le SCO are prepared to sell for the right offer.

Angers will accept £12m bids for Fulgini, although Newcastle may face also continental competition. Along with Everton and Crystal Palace, Southampton have also tracked the Valenciennes product. Ligue 1 sides, including Monaco, and clubs in Spain are on alert, too.

Fulgini would offer Bruce a versatile, creative and skilful set-piece specialist if Newcastle agree terms with Angers. He is also very comfortable running with the ball from deep, but his profile – and age – also suits Eagles boss Patrick Vieira’s desired mould for targets.
