All the talk right now is about Celtic signing Joe Hart.

But it seems like the Hoops have a contingency plan in the event that they cannot sign the veteran Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper.

According to Sky Sports, Celtic have their eye on another experienced Premier League keeper.

The report claims that Ange Postecoglou has an interest in Watford stopper Ben Foster, who joined the Londoners for £2.5 million three years ago.

Celtic absolutely need a new goalkeeper this summer but some fans of the Parkhead might be unsure about Foster, considering the former England international is 38.

Good signing?

Frankly, no. It wouldn’t be a great signing.

Foster isn’t a bad goalkeeper by any means, but he also isn’t a young one and the Bhoys should be looking at the long term.

Signing the former Manchester United player would be like putting a band-aid on a bullet wound.

The good news is that if they genuinely do want him, Celtic could probably get him.

Only last week, Foster was waxing lyrical about Parkhead, admitting the atmosphere drummed up by the home fans had him ‘crapping‘ himself during a previous experience playing the Glasgow giants.

At 38, one or two years playing in front of Celtic fans, with enhanced chances of winning a trophy, doesn’t sound too bad.
