Newcastle United are fighting Crystal Palace for the signing of Angers ace Angelo Fulgini as they finally seek new signings.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Angers need to raise funds and are now resigned to losing Fulgini this summer.
Newcastle now want to bring Fulgini to St James’ Park with Steve Bruce desperate to finally make a first signing of the summer.
The Magpies aren’t alone in the race though with Palace, Everton and Southampton all interested too, alongside the likes of Monaco.
The 24-year-old hit seven goals and four assists in 33 league outings for Angers, meaning he averaged a goal contribution once every three games.
Born in the Ivory Coast, Fulgini was a France youth international from Under-17 to Under-21 levels, and offers a versatile option for Newcastle.
Fulgini can play in central midfield, out wide or as a number 10, meaning he could be something of an alternative if Newcastle can’t sign Joe Willock again.
The competition is fierce, and Magpies fans may assume that Bruce will subsequently miss out, but Fulgini represents a strong option given his attacking quality and ability to play numerous positions.
