Some Tottenham Hotspur fans on social media have been reacting after the club announced that Toby Alderweireld has left to join Qatari outfit Al-Duhail.
The Belgian had been a fantastic servant for Spurs ever since joining from Southampton in 2015, but sadly, all good things have to come to an end.
Alderweireld’s presence alongside Jan Vertonghen at centre-half for Spurs made them into one of the most formidable defensive units in the Premier League for a period of time, and they even led Spurs to a Champions League final.
Sadly, the Belgian leaves north London without ever winning a piece of silverware for Spurs, and he becomes the second fan favourite to leave this week after the departure of Erik Lamela.
Alderweireld is a modern-day club legend for Tottenham, and he leaves behind a great legacy, despite a lack of silverware for his efforts.
