Leeds United are interested in signing Mikkel Damsgaard from Sampdoria in the summer transfer window, according to a report in Il Bianconero.

What’s the story?

It has been reported that Leeds are trying to sign Damsgaard and bring the 21-year-old winger to Elland Road.

Sampdoria are not actively looking to sell the Denmark international winger.

An offer of over €30 million (£25.53m) will be needed to get a deal done.

Juventus, Atalanta and Tottenham Hotspur are the other clubs mentioned in the report.

This is not the first time that Leeds have been linked with Damsgaard, who played as an attacking midfielder, forward and winger for Sampdoria last season.

The Daily Star reported back in February that Leeds were among the clubs keen on securing the services of the winger this summer.

It seems that Leeds have retained their interest in the Dane.

Would Damsgaard make Leeds better?

Leeds do have good players out on the wide, but there is always room for more.

Raphinha and Jack Harrison are brilliant wingers, while Tyler Roberts and Rodrigo can also play out wide.

However, Damsgaard would give Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa another option, especially as the youngster can also play in a number of positions in attack.

The winger scored two goals and gave four assists in 18 Serie A starts last season.

Damsgaard also scored two goals and gave one assist in five Euro 2020 matches, as Denmark reached the semi-finals.
