Manchester City are pricing Ivan Ilic out of a move to Hellas Verona or Torino this summer, according to TuttoMercatoWEB.
Ivan Juric is keen to make Ilic one of his first signings after taking charge at Torino after a successful spell together at Hellas Verona last season. But Gialloblu Sporting Director Tony D’Amico also hopes to have the Serbian back at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi.
Ilic was a regular part of Juric’s plans at Hellas Verona while on loan from Manchester City last term. The 20-year-old started 19 of his 29 Serie A appearances, scored two goals and never missed a matchday squad. His efforts also secured an international debut in June.
Now, Ilic is split over leaving Manchester City to play under Juric again at Torino or return to Hellas Verona. Il Toro have a concrete interest in the midfielder and will soon speak with his agent. A meeting is also scheduled for the middle of this week with Hellas Verona.
Manchester City have even slashed almost 20% off their asking price for Ilic over the past year. Hellas1903 note the Citizens included a €12m (£10.5m) option for Verona to buy the 20-year-old in their loan. But TuttoMercatoWEB now claim they only want €10m (£8.5m).
Yet even Manchester City’s lesser demand is too rich for Hellas Verona or Torino chiefs to pay for Ilic. Neither are willing to pay that much for the Serbia international, and Torino hope to drive a tough bargain. The Gialloblu, meanwhile, are instead pursuing another loan.
Pep Guardiola’s side appear unwilling to meet Verona’s request for a second temporary deal at present, however. TuttoMercatoWEB previously noted the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi natives offered €1m (£850k) for a second one-year deal against interest from Troyes.
Coming days crucial for Manchester City prospect Ilic with Verona and Torino keen
The coming days will be crucial in clearing Ilic’s immediate future amid interest from Torino and Hellas Verona in the Manchester City talent. Guardiola’s side are clearly open to letting the youngster leave, but only on their terms.
And the Citizens’ request is currently leaving Ilic out in the cold, waiting for one of his Serie A suitors to come up with a better deal. Juric and his successor at Verona, Eusebio Di Francesco, will also have to convince Ilic over which move is best.
