Everton are among the clubs who are interested in signing Phil Jones from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.

What’s the story?

90min are reporting today that United are ready to let Jones leave on a free transfer this summer.

The 29-year-old, who can play as a defender or as a defensive midfielder, earns over £100,000 per week as salary at United.

Jones, who has not played in the Premier League for United since January 2020, has two years left on his current contract.

The Red Devils are reportedly ready to simply let Jones leave on a free now.

Which clubs are interested?

90min are reporting that a number of clubs, including Everton, are interested in signing Jones on a free transfer.

Newcastle United, West Ham United, Southampton, Brighton and Hove Albion, Crystal Palace and Burnley are also claimed to be keen on the former Blackburn Rovers defender.

Would Phil Jones make Everton better?

Jones has had injury problems at United, and it is going to be tough for him to get back into the team.

The Englishman is 29 now, so theoretically he is at the top of his game.

However, for the weekly wage of £100,000, it would be a massive risk for Everton to sign Jones even on a free transfer.
