The new ITV crime drama Professor T has put Death in Paradise actor Ben Miller in the shoes of Professor Jasper Tempest for some weekly police work.
Based on the Belgian show of the same name, Professor T is a six-part series following the criminologist, also starring Emma Naomi and Frances de la Tour.
Staying true to the setting of the story, Professor T was shot within an iconic university on British soil, and we explore its history and its connection to Miller.
Where was Professor T Filmed?
The British show was primarily filmed against the historic backdrop of University of Cambridge, where the titular professor has tenure in the narrative.
Founded in 1209, the university is the second-oldest, English-speaking university in the world and very prestigious respectively. The university grew from University of Oxford scholars, and both of the iconic institutes are often referred to as ‘Oxbridge.’
Miller is a former student of University of Cambridge, as well as John Harvard who went on to establish Harvard University in Massachusetts.
The actor previously shared his excitement to return to the university he attended. “The house that Professor T grew up in is a house I know really well,” Miller said, and referenced the similarities between himself and the professor as they both know the university very well.
The original Professor T was previously shot in Antwerp, Belgium, following Koen De Bouw’s Professor Jasper Teerlinck.
The ITV drama was also shot in various locations around the country, including the high school Ursulinen, Brussels and Château de La Hulpe.
Actor Juliet Aubrey spoke of her time filming in Belgium during the pandemic. “The day I arrived in Antwerp the city went into full lockdown,” Aubrey said, but she still managed to explore the city on her regular runs.
Miller also stated that he watched every episode of the Belgian series beforehand, but believes that the Cambridge adaptation will offer many differences.
