Tottenham Hotspur have been chasing Joachim Andersen for the guts of three years.

That’s what Eurosport reported back in April as Spurs prepared to take yet another run at signing the £20 million Lyon centre-back.

Andersen impressed on loan with Fulham in the Premier League last season, sparking renewed interest from the Lilywhites.

But it looks like Tottenham are set to miss out on the towering defender yet again.

Fabrizio Romano has revealed on Twitter that the big man is very close to joining Patrick Vieira’s Crystal Palace.

The Daily Mail claimed on Saturday that the Eagles were hopeful of concluding a deal but the reliable Italian journalist claims that Andersen himself as chosen Selhurst Park as his preferred destination.

Bad news

Let’s face it, Spurs need someone like Andersen.

Their best centre-back right now is Toby Alderweireld – and he looks set to leave for Qatar.

Even if Cristian Romero is signed from Atalanta, which looks to be the case, the North Londoners still need additional centre-halves and missing out on the Dane, whom they’ve been looking at since 2018, is not ideal.
