Manchester United do not want to let go of reported Everton target Diogo Dalot amid interest from AC Milan, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

What’s the story?

La Gazzetta dello Sport are reporting that Milan want to re-sign Dalot.

The 22-year-old right-back spent the 2020-21 campaign on loan at Milan from United.

The Portugal international defender himself wants to return to Milan.

However, Premier League giants United have decided that they want to keep Dalot, who has been on the books of the Red Devils since 2018 when he joined from FC Porto for £19 million, as reported by BBC Sport at the time.

Blow for Everton

United’s reported stance on Dalot is a blow for Everton.

That’s because the Toffees are also reportedly interested in the 22-year-old right-back.

The Athletic reported last week that Everton wanted to sign the Portugal international last summer and have him on their shortlist this time around as well.

Seamus Coleman is the main right-back at Everton, but he is 32 now.

The Toffees need to sign a young(er) specialist right-back this summer, and Dalot would not be a bad addition.

However, it seems that United do not want to offload Dalot.

Moreover, the player himself seems to be keen on a return to Milan.
