Twitter confused with Lil Uzi Vert’s purchase

American rapper Lil Uzi Vert announced that he tried to surprise fans as he is working on purchasing a planet.

Yes, you read that right, a planet!

As the ownership was almost finalised, making Uzi the first human to possess such a thing, a user jokingly shared a hand-drawn certificate and stated that he was ‘too late’.

The rapper then assumingly confirmed the news by referring to the planet as his own when requesting name suggestions.

Amongst the many jokes, other users were just simply confused.

American comedian @lilduval took to Twitter to ask who Lil Uzi Vert’s realtor is…

Another spectator questioned who correctly advises planet possession.

Others joked regarding the possibility of a warehouse stocked up with planets.

Many people suggested that the artist is being finessed by purchasing something that nobody owns…

The fact Lil Uzi Vert will be unable to visit the planet also cropped up in confusing conversations online.

Not only that but what about filing taxes?

How do you supposedly buy a planet?

As surprising as this may be, it is pretty hard to get your hands on a planet.

So, how did Uzi do it?

It seems as though there was some paperwork involved as Canadian musician Grimes quote tweeted the artist and claimed that documentation was almost complete on 22nd July 2021.

Yale astronomy professor Gregory Laughlin was quoted within a Rolling Stones article as he stated:

“No legal ownership framework or regulated Earth-based exchange currently exists for the purchase of exoplanetary assets.”

While the lack of a clear method regarding planet purchases questions the validity of the Twitter comments, the professional also confirmed that any purchase would need to be arranged through an off-Earth venue, and followed up by admitting:

“I remain unaware of the existence of galactic exchanges for planet trading, but that in itself, of course, does not preclude their existence.”

Interested in an exoplanetary investment? Why not attempt to arrange an out-of-this-world purchase yourself!
