For Western audiences, Crunchyroll and Funimation dominate the ani-streaming space; however, Netflix is slowly edging their way towards the same level of promotion.

This month alone, fans on Netflix will get the second season of Beastars, the final Trollhunters chapter and the new Masters of the Universe series.

However, one of the ‘sleeper’ titles of this month is ‘Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop’, which certainly has the potential to become a modern classic.

Words Bubble Up Like Soda Pop: Plot

The anime movie tells the story of Cherry and Smile.

Cherry is a boy who has poor communication skills who always wears headphones, so people won’t talk to him. However, he puts the day-to-day emotions he feels into Japanese haiku poems.

On the other hand, Smile always wears a mask to hide her large front teeth and braces, but has become a popular video streamer in secret, often talking about seeking ‘cuteness’.

One day, the two accidentally bump into each other in a mundane shopping centre and what should have been a quiet Summer, turns into a season of love, friendship and music.
