Liverpool defender Ben Davies finally made his first appearance for the Reds on Tuesday evening, facing Wacker Innsbruck in a pre-season friendly.
Signed from Preston on deadline day in February, Davies was a surprise signing for the Reds as they looked for defensive depth.
Davies starred in the Championship with Preston but didn’t make a single appearance for Liverpool after arriving last season.
He played in a training game, but starting against Wacker Innsbruck was the first time he played against another team – and with Liverpool fans watching.
The game only lasted 30 minutes but Davies showed some promising signs as he looks to prove he is ready to make an impact at Anfield.
Davies is still being linked with a move away from Liverpool, but there was a touching moment before the game even kicked off.
As Davies walked out onto the pitch, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp picked him out from the team to give him a big hug before he finally played for the Reds.
Klopp is often praised for his interpersonal skills, and whilst Davies has had a tough start to life at Anfield, having that support from his manager has to mean a lot.
