Arsenal have finally struck the deal fans have been waiting for as Emile Smith Rowe has signed a new deal to stay at the club.
The Gunners saw Smith Rowe really emerge as a first-team player last season, notching seven goals and seven assists in 37 games across all competitions.
The 20-year-old showed quality and endeavour throughout his spell in the Arsenal first team, with fans loving seeing homegrown stars Smith Rowe and Bukayo Saka thrive.
It hasn’t all been joyous over Smith Rowe though, and that’s because there have been fears that he will leave the club.
Smith Rowe’s contract was set to expire in 2023, and Aston Villa decided to test the water with a shock move for the English youngster.
Villa offered £25million and £30million for Smith Rowe last month, but Arsenal stood firm.
The Mirror added earlier this month that Villa really thought Arsenal would sell for around £32.5million, but that hasn’t been the case.
Arsenal have now confirmed that Smith Rowe has signed a new long-term deal, ending those Villa rumours whilst taking over the number 10 shirt.
Smith Rowe has taken to Twitter to post just six words in reaction to his new deal; new season, new contract, new number.
That’s all new for Smith Rowe, but his home is the same; it’s Arsenal and not Aston Villa.
