Everton are looking to swoop in with a deal for Manchester United playmaker Jesse Lingard as Rafael Benitez pursues new arrivals.
That’s according to a report from The Sun, who claim that the Toffees are now rivalling West Ham United for Lingard’s signature.
Lingard spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham and produced some stunning performances on his way to recording nine goals and four assists in 16 games.
Now back with United, Lingard’s future remains unclear even if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer claims he is part of the plans at Old Trafford.
Everton are now interested in a move, with Benitez looking to add him to recent signings Andros Townsend and Asmir Begovic.
It looks like Premier League experience will be valued highly by Benitez, and Lingard fits the bill with almost 150 top-flight appearances to his name.

Lingard, 28, hails from Warrington and would surely fancy staying around the North West, so Everton offer an interesting alternative to West Ham – if United are open to selling.
Everton are keen on United full back Diogo Dalot too according to The Athletic, so this could end up being a double raid on the Red Devils if the Toffees get their way.
