How to watch Sarpatta Parambarai…

Sarpatta Parambarai will be exclusively available to stream on Amazon Prime Video, before arriving on Star Vijay on satellite television.

Amazon Prime Video offers two packages that will have access to Sarpatta Parambarai; costing Rs 329 (3 months) or Rs 999 (one year), but stopped their free trial in May.

The satellite television broadcasting rights have been reportedly purchased by Star Vijay/Vijay TV, but a domestic premiere has not yet been revealed.

Sarpatta Parambarai: Release date and time

  • Sarpatta Parambarai will release via Amazon Prime Video on Wednesday, July 22nd at 12 AM IST.

Amazon Help Twitter page replied to users on July 21st, stating that they “haven’t made any announcement on the time”.

However, they later confirmed that the movie will become available to stream at midnight in both Tamil and Telugu.

The movie was originally due to release theatrically first, but a digital launch was preferred following cinema closures across the country in the wake of rising covid cases.

A date was first set for August 12th during the Independence Day weekend, but Amazon moved this up to July 22nd – aligning with their global Prime Day celebrations.

Sarpatta Parambarai plot…

The movie centres around a conflict between two clans in North Chennai called Idiyappa Parambarai and Sarpatta Parambarai.

In the movie, we follow Kabilan, a young man who must lead his community both inside and outside the ring; in a narrative that “showcases the boxing culture in the locality and also the politics being involved in it.”

Whilst the film itself is not directly based on a true story, it certainly has elements from real life; as the star of the movie Arya explained:

“Ranjith sir had done a great deal of research for the film, about the North Madras lifestyle, the Sarpatta Parambarai – Idiyappam Parambarai rivalry, the social status, among other things. We even had real boxers come down and share their experiences with us.”

This article will be updated as soon as more information on the release is confirmed.
