Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Fabrizio Romano revealed that Tottenham are closing in on the signing of Sevilla wonderkid Bryan Gil.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian journalist revealed that Spurs are set to sign the 20-year-old prodigy in a player-plus-cash deal involving Erik Lamela.

The Argentine will move to La Liga, and Tottenham will also pay €25m (£21.6m) to bring the 3-cap Spain international to north London.

Now, it seems as if a few Arsenal fans on Twitter are quite jealous.

One fan said Tottenham are getting a ‘gem’ and tipped Gil to be Nuno Espírito Santo’s version of Pedro Neto.

Another asked why Arsenal can’t ‘be serious’ in this window like Tottenham are.

So far, Mikel Arteta has signed Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga, whereas Spurs are yet to make an addition.

In our view, Arsenal fans should be full of envy over this news.

Gil was scouted by Barcelona earlier this year, where respected scout Vaya Ballabriga likened him to Neymar.

The Spanish forward has also been compared to Johan Cruyff and Jack Grealish.

Tottenham are offloading a piece of deadwood in Lamela, who earns high wages, is rarely fit, and struggles to contribute even when he is.

Somehow, in return, they’re getting one of the best prospects in Europe, while only having to pay just over £20m as well.

Fabio Paratici should give himself a pat on the back.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about this news…
