NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo is making headlines, but how much do you know about the rest of the Antetokounmpo family? We’re exploring Giannis’ sports star brothers.
Giannis is one of five brothers!
Who are Giannis Antetokounmpo’s brothers?
Giannis has four brother in total: Thanasis, Francis, Kostas and Alex.
The siblings are all hailed from Athens, Greece, sharing one thing in common: sports.
Are any of the siblings NBA stars?
With a common ground in sports, it’d only make sense for the Antetokounmpo brothers to play in the industry.
On the Instagram Live, Giannis exclaimed: “I am a f—ing champion!”
“Nobody can say s— to me!”
Likewise, 23-year-old Kostas is following in his brothers’ footsteps, recently signing with LDLC ASVEL of the French League.
This signing surprised a lot of fans, because Kostas was expected to return to Greece to play for Olympiacos – though this now looks like it’s off the cards!
19-year-old Alex is also putting his foot in the door in the basketball world. Currently playing for UCAM Murcia, the sibling reportedly plans to skip college and play professionally in Europe to prepare for the NBA.
In talks with EuroHoops.net, Alex commented: “I want to become a pro as soon as possible. I was born and raised in Europe, I know European basketball, and the best thing for me would be to sign a contract with a European club. I will have to train and compete against grown men, I will experience strong competition and pressure, and I will evolve on every level.”
Francis Antetokounmpo, eldest of the brothers, is a basketball fan and he plays semi-professionally – though he’s better known for playing soccer.
According to Playersbio, Francis also branches out of the sports industry and dabbles in music! He reportedly released his first single, Shekosi, in 2020.
