There’s a slightly worrying development coming out of Liverpool these past few days.

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is being linked with a move away from Anfield.

According to The Athletic, Paris Saint-Germain are keen on the England midfielder, who had a bit-part role in helping his country to a Euro 2020 final earlier this month.

There has also been reports that the Reds could even cash in on him this summer, with Henderson only having two years left on his contract.

But Athletic journalist James Pearce has claimed that it would be ‘absolutely unthinkable’ for that to happen, claiming he would be ‘amazed’ to see him leave Anfield.

He told The Athletic on YouTube: “I’m sure there will be more dialogue. I think it’ll hinge on how much of a gulf there is between where FSG will go for this and what Henderson is willing to accept. That’s the big unknown. It’s absolutely unthinkable he’ll go anywhere this summer.

“I know there’s been noise in the last 24 hours that something could potentially happen in this window. I’d be absolutely amazed if that was the case.”

Is it unthinkable?

Well, it is and it isn’t.

It would be a shock for sure but, that being said, the idea of losing a player like Georginio Wijnaldum on a free transfer this time last summer would also have shocked some Liverpool fans.

And yet, the Netherlands international has left Merseyside to join up with Mauricio Pochettino at PSG, who didn’t pay a penny to sign him.

During transfer windows, nothing is impossible and although Liverpool supporters would hate to lose their skipper, nothing is for definite until he has signed a new deal at the club.
