Tottenham Hotspur have been pursuing Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu in recent weeks but continue to be warned about a deal.

Fabio Paratici’s arrival as director of football has seen Tottenham linked with a number of Serie A stars, and Tomiyasu has been a prime target.

The Japanese ace can play at right back or centre back, and at just 23 he still has bags of potential for Tottenham to tap into – if they get a deal done.

The Athletic reported last week that Tottenham were on the verge of signing Tomiyasu in a deal worth £15million plus add-ons.

That hasn’t been done yet, and Bologna managing director Claudio Fenucci has suggested that ‘we’ll see’ whether a deal goes through.

Now, Bologna sporting director Riccardo Bigon has admitted ‘it’s true’ that Tottenham have made a move for Tomiyasu, but many clubs are keen.

Bologna are in no rush, but Bigon claims Tomiyasu is tempted by the opportunity Spurs are presenting.

Bologna are waiting for ‘good conditions’, meaning Tottenham may need to increase their bid a little more before getting the Japan international signed up.

“We’re not in a rush to sell Tomiyasu… Tottenham made a bid, it’s true – but many clubs are interested,” said Bigon. “He’s tempted by the Premier Lesgue chance, we’re gonna wait for good conditions,” he added.
