Tottenham Hotspur’s interest in Atalanta goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is “concrete”, the Serie A club’s chief executive Luca Percassi has told Tuttomercatoweb

Talk about unfinished business.

After falling short at Manchester United and struggling during a short-lived spell at Aston Villa, Gollini will hope it’s third time lucky as he prepares for a fresh stab at the English game.

According to The Guardian, the talented shot-stopper is set to become the first signing of the Fabio Paratici era at Tottenham.

Spurs are closing in on a deal that would see Gollini arrive on loan, complete with a £13 million option to buy clause.

It’s understood Paratici sees the one-time Italy international as someone capable of immediately challenging Hugo Lloris for the number one shirt under Nuno Espirito Santo ahead of the upcoming Premier League season.

According to Percassi, however, the deal isn’t done yet, even though reports of Tottenham’s interest are accurate.

Will Pierluigi Gollini be Paratici’s first signing at Tottenham?

“There are various offers we are listening to,” Percassi explains.

“I just know (Gollini) is a very important player, a guy who has allowed us to grow and maybe he will bring us something different. But, as it stands, there is nothing definitive, if not concrete offers.

“The Tottenham idea is very concrete.”

It must be said Gollini was a 21-year-old boy when he joined Aston Villa during the ill-fated reign of Roberto Di Matteo.

Five years have passed and the 6ft 4in glovesman has grown into a man back home in Italy, helping Atalanta qualify for the Champions League once more.

The Bergamo-based outfit already appears to be planning for life without Gollini, however.
