Alex Crook has said on talkSPORT that Danny Ings wants to join Manchester United or Manchester City, not Tottenham Hotspur.

TalkSPORT’s transfer correspondent Crook has said that Southampton striker Ings has his sights set on United or City.

Tottenham Hotspur interest

The Sun reported in May that Spurs are interested in signing Ings from Premier League rivals Southampton in the summer transfer window.

The Telegraph reported last month that the former Liverpool striker is Spurs’ ‘priority signing this summer’ to play alongside Harry Kane next season and beyond.

TalkSPORT claim

This is how the conversation went on talkSPORT between Crook, Carlton Cole and Darren Ambrose.

Crook said about Ings on talkSPORT: “If a big team comes in for him and that hasn’t happened. I should stress that there hasn’t been a single enquiry.

“He’s got his sights set on Manchester United or Man City, I’m not sure either of those clubs are going to start banging on the door.”

Cole asked: “So he wouldn’t go to West Ham because West Ham need a striker.”

Crook replied: “I don’t believe so.”

Ambrose added: “What about Spurs?”

Crook said: “I said big club Darren Ambrose. Let’s not be silly.”

Tottenham the best option for Ings

Edinson Cavani is staying at United, who also have Marcus Rashford, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial in attack.

Yes, City need a striker to replace the departed Sergio Aguero, but the Premier League champions have been linked with Erling Haaland and Robert Lewandowski.

Among the big clubs, Spurs do appear the best option for Ings, who cost Southampton £20 million in transfer fees when they signed him from Liverpool, as reported by BBC Sport.

The 28-year-old would be playing for an ambitious club challenging for the Premier League top four.
