‘Grealish has it, Hourihane wants it on the edge of the box on his left foot, oooooh it’s a beauty’.

In 2019, Conor Hourihane scored one of the most important goals in Aston Villa’s recent history, it was his thunderbolt from outside of the box against West Brom in the Championship play-off semi-final that paved the way for the club’s return to the Premier League.

It was a moment of significance. One that Villa supporters will never forget because it meant that the Midlands side went from potentially becoming the next Leeds or Nottingham Forest and spending many years outside of the big league.

To now dreaming of reliving their past glory days and hoping to bring European football back to Villa Park.

Nonetheless, the player in question might just be donning the colours of the team he downed two years ago.

The Athletic claim that relegated duo, West Brom and Sheffield United, are interested in Hourihane’s talents for the forthcoming season.

After suffering relegation last season, they both need to get over that psychological barrier and try to return to the big time at the first time of asking.

A player like Hourihane, who was on-loan at Swansea for the second half of last season, is a Championship gem struggling to earn game time in the Premier League.

Hourihane only moved to Swansea last season because of a lack of minutes, so if either the Baggies or the Blades are serious then they might just get their man.

As West Brom fans will know too well, he has a wand of a left-foot, especially from set-piece situations and he has that know-how of earning promotion.

This potential capture is surely a tick in the box for both teams ahead of the new season.
