Ray Parlour told talkSPORT (17/07/21 at 2:45 pm) that it’s ‘brilliant news’ for Aston Villa fans that Jack Grealish is seemingly going to stay at the club.
The Highbury legend also added that he wants Villa, as well teams like Everton, to try and win a domestic cup next season and stop playing weaker teams.
TalkSport claim that Grealish moving to Manchester City may not happen and the expert ball-carrier might instead sign a new contract.
And Parlour thinks this is a ‘big boost’ for those repping Villa, as he also made his Everton claim.
“Absolutely brilliant news for Villa fans,” said Parlour. “We all know he’s a Villa fan. And a really important person in that squad.
“That would be brilliant news for Aston Villa. If they spend a bit more money then they will be a good side next season. That is a huge boost for any Villa fan because he is loved at the club.
“It will come to that stage because it is about winning trophies as a player. But if Villa spend a bit more money then they could certainly give everyone a run for their money, Europe-wise.
“Clubs like Aston Villa and Everton, it’s all about having a good cup run as well. When teams, who are not going to challenge for the title, all of a sudden they are resting players. Go out and try to win the cup.”

It wasn’t so long ago that talkSPORT were claiming that Grealish to Manchester City was as good as a done deal.
Well, the same radio platform has seemingly done a 360 degrees turn and now suggested he won’t be going anywhere.
Villa fans would make it clear that he didn’t want to go anywhere in the first place, but from their perspective, all this talk around him can end if he does indeed put pen-to-paper on a new deal.
And what a forward line Dean Smith can put out if Grealish stays because someone like Ollie Watkins will be licking his lips at how much he will be fed this season.
