Arsenal would have to pay a Harry Maguire-like fee if they want to sign James Maddison, according to a report.

The Leicester Mercury shared that there is interest from Arsenal for Maddison, but they cannot see the 24-year-old leaving because of how much the Foxes would demand for his talents.

Even though the Midlands outfit have secured European football once more this season, and won the FA Cup last season, they have still allowed some of their stars to leave.

One of them included centre-back Maguire when they sold him to Manchester United for £80 million in 2019 (BBC Sport), not forgetting Ben Chilwell leaving for Chelsea last summer.

And it seems as though that’s the type of money Arsenal will have to put on the table if they want to land Maddison’s talents this summer.

After missing out on European football last season, it seems as though the Gunners aren’t messing about in the transfer market this time around.

Albert Lokonga is a midfielder close to swapping Anderlecht for Arsenal, whilst they have also agreed a £50 million deal for Ben White, according to BBC Sport.

Left-back Nuno Tavares has already been snapped up and it seems as though, for once, Arsenal are making noises in the transfer market.

However, a creative talent is needed by Mikel Arteta and someone of Maddison’s confidence would work wonders for the North London side.

The speed in which he plays the ball in the final third, his ability to link up play and his want to always take on a shot and score goals is something that would be more than welcome at the Emirates.
