Fabrizio Romano has claimed on Twitter that Celtic are interested in signing Aurelio Buta from Royal Antwerp in the summer transfer window.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has reported on the social networking site that Celtic are now looking to sign a new right-back after agreeing a deal with Rubin Kazan to bring in Carl Starfelt.

Brandon Soppy of Rennes is one of the right-backs that the Hoops are looking at.

The former Scottish Premiership giants are also in talks with Belgian club Antwerp to sign Buta.

Buta joined Antwerp in 2018 on a permanent contract after a loan spell from Portuguese giants Benfica.

The 24-year-old has done well for the Belgian club over the years and is ready for a move to the Scottish Premiership.

The right-back made 16 starts and nine substitute appearances in the Belgian league last season.

Buta gave four assists in those matches.

The former Benfica man also made three starts and four substitute appearances in the Europa League last season.

Celtic have a new manager in charge now, Ange Postecoglou, and he will be keen on getting the squad sorted before the start of the new season.

The Hoops will be determined to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title from Rangers next season.
