Rangers have just announced their capture of Fashion Sakala.
It took a little while after the speculation of it being a done deal first surfaced a few months ago, but Sakala is finally a Gers player.
And if one rumour is true, Rangers boss Steven Gerrard wants to add yet another forward option.
According to 90min, the Ibrox side and Celtic are keen on bringing Liverpool striker Divock Origi to Glasgow.
Origi’s time at Anfield slightly overlapped with Gerrard’s in terms of playing career but the Belgian attacker – a £10 million signing in 2014 – has struggled in a big way for regular football these past few years.
You can see why Rangers are reportedly keen because, after all, the player has already made Gerrard go nuts once before.
Back in 2018, Origi scored a freak last-minute winner against Everton in a Merseyside derby.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp took criticism for celebrating so much that he actually ran on to the pitch, but here’s how Gerrard said he reacted:
Options
Gerrard already has quite a lot of central attacking options.
Even without Origi, the list is now Sakala, Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Cedric Itten and Jermain Defoe to name but a few.
And therefore you have to question if Rangers genuinely do want the Liverpool man because frankly, it makes no sense – unless, of course, somebody like Morelos winds up leaving, which isn’t impossible.
