Toofaan is an upcoming Hindi-language film, directed and produced by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra and co-produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar.

The film was set to release on Amazon Prime Video in May 2021. However, it has been delayed and fans are wondering when it will release.

So, what is the release date for Toofaan and why was it delayed?

  • Toofaan is expected to release on Prime Video at Midnight IST on Friday, 16th July 2021. As the film will be shown on their streaming service exclusively, fans should not expect to find it elsewhere.

The new release date has been confirmed by actor Farhan Akhtar on his Twitter account. Generally, Prime Video India regularly releases new content around the same time. Based on this we have been able to figure out the remaining release times:

  • Central time: 1:30 PM on Thursday 15th July 2021.

Toofan: Delay on Prime Video explained

The film had been delayed due to the 2nd wave of the pandemic, which has recently hit India.

The announcement of the film’s delay on Prime Video was posted on 3rd May 2021 by actor Farhan Akhtar on his official Twitter account. He says in the post “In Light of the severity of the situation, our focus is completely on the pandemic and on supporting our employees, their families and in helping the wider community. Therefore, we have taken the decision to postpone the release of our film ‘Toofaan’ until the situation improves”.

Though theatre owners were encouraging people to attend their cinema’s not that long ago. Cinema’s in India, have been shut down. In light of this, the OTT release date was set to be 21st May 2021 but was postponed. The new release date has been confirmed by actor Farhan Akhtar on his Twitter account.

The film was originally slated for theatrical release in India in October 2020, this was pushed ahead to 18th September 2020. However, it was indefinitely delayed due to the situation in India. Instead, the release was made to be direct to OTT.

How to watch Toofan when it releases

Toofan will be available to watch on Prime Video when it releases.

To stream Amazon Prime Video’s content and have access to Amazon’s film and TV library, you will need to have a membership.

Subscriptions cost £7.99/$10.96 per month, alternatively, it costs £79/$108.35 for the year if you pay the whole cost upfront. Should you just want access to Prime Video and not Amazon Primes deliver service, a subscription will cost £5.99/$8.22 per month.
