According to Calciomercato, VfL Wolfsburg are now willing to sanction a loan move for Josip Brekalo, amid interest from Leeds and Arsenal.
What’s the story?
Well, it has been said that Arsenal are eyeing a move for the 27-cap Croatia international, and he’ll cost a minimum of £13m.
Leeds are also keen, and both Premier League clubs are battling Bayern Munich for his services.
Now, however, Brekalo won’t cost £13m. He’ll cost £16m, although Leeds or Arsenal would be able to pay it in 2022.
Why? Well, VfL Wolfsburg are now happy to let the 23-year-old leave on loan, so long as the club he joins agrees to a £16m obligation to buy.
Of course, it’s £3m more than they’d have to pay if they wanted him now.
However, it would allow Leeds or Arsenal the opportunity to save their money for another year.
Josip Brekalo is definitely worth signing

Whoever lands Brekalo will be getting a hugely exciting young player.
The versatile winger – who can operate on either flank – has been compared to Dutch legend Arjen Robben by the Bundesliga’s official website.
He’s definitely worth taking a chance on for £16m, especially as whoever lands him won’t have to stump up the cash immediately.

Brekalo enjoyed a decent campaign in 2020/21 with seven goals and three assists in 29 appearances.
From our point of view, we’d be very surprised if a player of his ability is still at VfL Wolfsburg after Deadline Day.
