According to 90min, West Ham have made contact with Borussia Monchengladbach over the signing of Breel Donald Embolo.
What’s the story?
Well, 90min believe West Ham have asked about the 24-year-old’s availability, after he impressed at EURO 2020.
The 48-cap Switzerland international only scored once in five games at EURO 2020, but it was his direct nature which caught the eye.
90min are claiming that David Moyes has £30m to spend on a striker.
However, that money could be used elsewhere if Borussia Monchengladbach agree to loan Embolo to the east Londoners.
The Yaoundé-born frontman endured a tough season in 2020/21, scoring just five Bundesliga goals in 31 appearances.
However, there is definitely a player in there somewhere.
Embolo – who the Bundesliga likened to Mario Balotelli – put his name up in lights at FC Basel, scoring 31 goals and providing 22 assists in 90 games.
Additionally, Christian Heidel – Schalke 04’s former Sporting Director – said he runs enough for three players up front, as quoted by the Bundesliga.
What’s the latest with West Ham’s other targets?

90min don’t just talk about Embolo.
Sparta Prague forward Adam Hlozek is said to be on West Ham’s list.
However, 90min believe interest in the 18-year-old has intensified, and West Ham find themselves competing against more attractive options.
Tammy Abraham is also wanted by Moyes.

Sadly, 90min continue the bad news in saying that the finances involved might be too much for the Hammers.
Whatever happens, West Ham absolutely have to sign at least one striker.
There’s simply no way Moyes can enter the 2021/22 campaign, which includes the demands of Europa League football, with only Michail Antonio.
