Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, journalist Ian McGarry has claimed that Arsenal are looking at Jules Kounde as a potential alternative to Ben White.
As has been widely reported, Arsenal have been chasing White for some time now, but sadly for the Gunners, they’ve made very little progress on that front, seeing two bids rejected for the centre-back.
Arsenal now need to figure out what they’re going to do if they can’t land White, and Kounde has emerged as another option at centre-back.
What’s been said?
McGarry was speaking about Ben White and his links to Arsenal.
“It’s normal practice as we both know, that you have other choices and Jules Kounde of Sevilla is now in the mix for both London clubs (Arsenal and Chelsea), and someone who clearly is a prospect and is also flexible, he’s not just a centre-back, he can play as right-back as well,” McGarry said.

Better option?
Kounde or White, who is the better option?
Well, White is proven in the Premier League, but Kounde has been plying his trade with Sevilla at the top level for a number of years at this point.
The Frenchman is a top player, being described as ‘the total footballer’ in the past, and if Arsenal manage to land the Sevilla ace they will have a great defender on their hands.
Of course, he won’t be a cheap option, but this is certainly a possibility that Arsenal supporters should be excited about.
Keep an eye on this one, because Arsenal’s pursuit of a new centre-back sounds very interesting.
