How did Greta Thunberg cameo on Loki?

In a blend of voiceovers speaking iconic lines, from both the MCU timeline and ‘real life’, Loki audiences heard Thunberg’s voice amongst other notable figures, including Nelson Mandela and Neil Armstrong.

As the familiar Marvel opening credits rolled on episode 6 of Loki, sharp-eared fans noticed a snippet from Greta: “How dare they!”

This unforgettable line of course derives from the United Nations Climate Action Summit in 2019. Making an iconic speech, Greta spoke: “How dare you pretend that this can be solved with just ‘business as usual’ and some technical solutions? With today’s emissions levels, that remaining CO2 budget will be entirely gone within less than eight and a half years… You are failing us. But the young people are starting to understand your betrayal. The eyes of all future generations are upon you. And if you choose to fail us, I say: We will never forgive you.”

Marvel fans react to surprise appearance

Even though Greta Thunberg only cameoed via her voice, Marvel fans are still shook that the activist is canon in the MCU.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “omg there are voiceovers of nelson mandela, greta thunberg, malala, and maya angelou along with all the avengers in the final episode of #Loki

Another tweeted: “Inserting Greta Thunberg was the most unexpected thing.”

Somebody else took to Twitter to write: “guys I think we’re forgetting to look at the big picture here. Greta Thunberg is now canon in the MCU #loki
