Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is willing to cut his post-Euro 2020 holiday short to seal a move to Serie A giants Roma, according to Calciomercato.
A Giallorossi side now coached by a certain Jose Mourinho have finally wrapped up the signing of one Premier League star this week – Rui Patricio putting pen to paper after forcing his way out of Wolves – and it seems a second isn’t far behind.
Those ‘Xhaka to Roma’ rumours have been spreading like wildfire for well over a month now. And, with just six weeks of the transfer window remaining, it seems an end to the long-running transfer saga is in sight at last.
Calciomercato claims the box-blond battle-axe – one of the most impressive midfielders at Euro 2020 – has already agreed a three-year deal with the Stadio Olimpico outfit, one that would see him take home about £50,000 a week.
While terms have been agreed with the player, coming to an arrangement with his club has proved easier said than done.

Arsenal have refused to budge on their £18 million valuation of the former Borussia Monchengladbach man. But Roma might finally be ready to meet that lofty asking price, having raised funds via the departures of Pau Lopez and Cengiz Under.

The report adds Xhaka will cut short his holiday in Montenegro to seal a long-awaited switch to the Eternal City, with a breakthrough expected this week.
Arsenal, meanwhile, are closing in on a deal that could see Anderlecht captain Albert Sambi Lokonga replace Xhaka in Mikel Arteta’s engine room, although their pursuit of Sassuolo’s Manuel Locatelli may be hijacked by Juventus.
