According to the Daily Mail, Southampton have now opened talks over a deal for Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden – and it could end up being a swap deal.
The Saints are looking for more midfield additions despite landing Ibrahima Diallo last summer, with Oriol Romeu being linked with a move to Aston Villa.
Hayden is now on the radar, and the former Arsenal man has long been interested in heading back down south having joined Newcastle back in 2016.
How much do Newcastle want for Hayden?
It’s claimed that Newcastle value Hayden at around £12million, which seems low considering that he still has five years left on his contract.
Hayden only cost Newcastle £1.5million five years ago, so they would at least make more than £10million in profit with such a deal.
The 26-year-old has now racked up more than 150 appearances for Newcastle, and fans would surely feel a little short-changed if he went for just £12million when you consider his contract and how much other Premier League clubs get for their players.

Southampton could send Lemina in Hayden swap
The report does though add that Southampton could offer Mario Lemina to Newcastle as part of a deal for Hayden.
Newcastle are keen on Lemina, and the Saints are willing to let him go given that he is out of contract in less than a year.
Southampton value Lemina at just £4million, a £14million loss on the £18million fee they paid in 2017, meaning we could see the Saints offer £8million plus Lemina to land Hayden.
