According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Valentino Lazaro would ‘gladly’ return to Newcastle amid doubts over his future at Inter Milan.
What’s the story?
Well, the Italian news outlet believe the 32-cap Austria international would jump at the chance to be reunited with the Magpies.
Lazaro – who made one appearance at EURO 2020 – spent the second half of the 2019/20 campaign on loan at Newcastle.
The 25-year-old made 15 appearances in black and white, scoring two goals.
Now, he’s keen to return to Tyneside, although Gazzetta dello Sport claim Newcastle are yet to actually make him an offer.
In our view, Lazaro – who the Bundesliga compared to Willian – will leave the San Siro, after spending the last two seasons away on loan from Inter.
Should Newcastle re-sign Valentino Lazaro?

In our opinion, no.
Steve Bruce had plenty of time to make his mind up about signing Lazaro permanently during his 15 appearances for Newcastle in 2020.
However, the ex-Sunderland boss decided not to bring the Austrian to St James’ Park, which is pretty telling.

Lazaro didn’t exactly do anything special while on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach last season either.
In that respect, we’re not sure why Bruce’s mind would have now been changed.
Unless the Magpies find themselves panicking on Deadline Day, this is a deal they should avoid, without a shadow of a doubt.
