Rangers take on Arsenal in a pre-season friendly at Ibrox this weekend, and striker Cedric Itten is looking forward to the game.

Neither side have exactly started their pre-season preparations in style.

The Gers lost 1-0 away at Tranmere Rovers on Saturday afternoon, with Steven Gerrard far from happy with the performance.

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta probably feels a similar way tonight after his Gunners side were beaten 2-1 away at Hibernian.

Emile Smith Rowe at least got himself on the scoresheet, but Arsenal will be seeking much, much better when they face Rangers this weekend.

Cedric Itten has been speaking ahead of the game, and told Rangers TV that he thinks Arsenal are a ‘big opponent’.

The Swish striker no doubt saw the likes of Philippe Senderos and Granit Xhaka turn out for the Gunners, and now has a chance to play against the North London giants.

Itten feels that the game is ‘great’ for Rangers, and is looking forward to playing at Ibrox again having started pre-season down at Prenton Park.

“It’s a great game for us,” said Itten. “Arsenal are a big opponent and we are really looking forward to the game at Ibrox, it’s always great to play there,” he added.

The game will also see Arteta return to Ibrox having turned out for Rangers as a player, though Glen Kamara’s summer at Euro 2020 means he is unlikely to face his former club.
