Pep Lijnders has been speaking to Liverpool’s official website from the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria.
The Dutchman goes into detail about what Jürgen Klopp’s men have been up to during pre-season.
Lijnders also offered a word of advice to Ibrahima Konate, who has recently linked up with his new teammates following a £36m move from RB Leipzig.
What did Lijnders say about Konate?
Speaking about the Frenchman, Lijnders said: “We say a big welcome to Ibrahima Konate: just listen to James Milner and everything will be fine!”
Well then, it seems there’s one man who calls the shots around Liverpool!
We know it was said tongue-in-cheek, but it speaks volumes that Lijnders didn’t mention club captain Jordan Henderson, or Klopp, when offering this advice to Konate.

It goes to show just how important Milner is around Anfield.
At 35 years of age, the Yorkshireman is the oldest player in Klopp’s squad, and it seems he puts his experience to good use around Liverpool.
Best free transfer of all time?
Without a doubt, Milner’s arrival at Liverpool on a free transfer from Manchester City is one of the best deals of all time.
Liverpool’s No.7 has won the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup since swapping blue for red.

Milner – who earns £140,000-a-week – has also made a huge 250 appearances for the Reds.
Even though his role on the pitch has diminished slightly, he’s clearly worth his weight in gold behind the scenes.
