Drama behind the content explored

Lindsey received a lot of negative views on her video as many thought she was mocking the black creators. Fans came to this conclusion because Lindsey had praised her friend who had done the same trend.

Lindsey had commented, “Get it!!!!” on her friend Devon Werkheiser’s video. Devon had done the same trend when he reached one million followers.

Some thought she contradicted her own statement as she gave two different reactions to the same trend. Due to this, fans were quick to call her out on social media.

One user wrote: “She PRAISED her white friend, Devon, for doing the trend, but insulted the black creators.” Another added: “Why even make a video like that? Did she think people would relate?”

Actress issues apology

Following the backlash, Lindsey broke her silence on Instagram. The actress took to her Instagram stories and broke down crying due to the negative views.

She said: “I just have to say right now that the hate in my inbox is not okay. I did not mean anything in any kind of way. I am learning every day as I think everybody is, and this kind of hate just needs to evaporate from the planet no matter who it is directed towards.”

She continued: “Crocodile tears, no dude. This is like my soul out there. If you know anything that I stand for or believe in, you know that it’s not this. I am sorry that you were offended.”

Lindsey further added: “I know I am going to keep learning. I think for my own mental health I need to take a step back from social media. I felt like that anyway but it’s like I’m not here to offend or belittle anybody at all. I thought it was a millennial Gen-Z thing on TikTok. My intention was not like that at all. “
