According to Eurosport, Patrick Vieira is planning to use his relationship with Arsenal and Manchester City to make signings for Crystal Palace.
What’s the story?
Well, it makes sense for Vieira to utilise his contacts.
A trophy-laden period with Arsenal, and time with Manchester City as both a player and coach, has put the Frenchman in a good position.
Now, he will try to use these links to bring Claudio Gomes to Selhurst Park.
The 20-year-old joined Manchester City from Paris Saint-Germain, and has gone on to make three first-team appearances for the Citizens.
That doesn’t seem like a lot. However, given the incredible talent at Pep Guardiola’s disposal, it’s quite impressive for Gomes to break into the side.
Who is Claudio Gomes?

Crystal Palace fans will be pleased to know that Gomes has been likened to one of the best in the business – N’Golo Kante.
Mohamed El Kharraze, who worked with Gomes at Evreux, made the comparison when discussing the midfielder’s characteristics.
Speaking to Goal (via le10sport), El Kharraze said: “There are similarities between N’Golo and Claudio Gomes, if only by their career path.
“He is a potential Champions League player who will have a very good career. He is a charismatic leader, a leader who is committed because he is grounded, mature and clear with everyone.”

In our view, this would only be worth doing for the south Londoners if Manchester City agree to hand Crystal Palace an option to buy.
The Eagles have been stung before when taking players on loan, who go on to succeed.
For example, Ruben Loftus-Cheek enjoyed a great time in SE25, but Crystal Palace couldn’t afford to bring him back for good.
Then, when they did decide to stump up for a loan hero in Mamadou Sakho, the Frenchman was often injured after his £26m move, and has just been released from his contract.
