Jose Mourinho has said on talkSPORT (7:39am, July 12, 2021) that he feels sorry for Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka for his penalty miss during England’s Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy at Wembley last night.

Arsenal winger Saka, 19, failed to score from the spot in the shootout, as Italy won 3-2 on penalties.

The match had finished 1-1 after extra time.

Former Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United manager Mourinho has praised Saka for stepping up to take a penalty in the shootout.

However, the AS Roma boss has asked whether it was the right decision to allow a 19-year-old to take such an important penalty.

Mourinho said on talkSPORT (7:39am, July 12, 2021): “I think it’s hard to leave especially Saka as the last one. I think it’s too much for a kid to have everything on his shoulders in this moment.”

The Portuguese added: “For Saka to have the destiny of a county on his shoulders, I think, is too much.”

Mourinho concluded: “Saka, I just feel very sorry for him.”

Brave Bukayo Saka

Saka is only 19. Yes, just 19.

Yet, the Arsenal winger decided to take a penalty during the shootout in the European Championship final.

In front of over 60,000 fans.

It takes guts, it takes courage, it takes a strong personalty to do what Saka did.

The Arsenal teenager should be praised for stepping up to take such an important penalty kick.

Saka will come back stronger from this, and so will the rest of the England players.

The England football team have done the country proud.

You should not be surprised if the Three Lions win the 2022 World Cup.
