Phil Foden and Jack Grealish may not have played as much as they would have liked this summer, but they’ve played a part in England’s run to the Euro 2020 final.

Manchester City ace Foden started England’s first two games, but didn’t quite the heights expected of him against Croatia and Scotland.

He didn’t feature against Germany or Ukraine, but did come on against Denmark in midweek and will hope to shake off a knock to face Italy in tonight’s final.

As for Grealish, he has only started one game but has made an impact from the bench, serving as a game-changing substitute against Germany.

Both players are battling to play tonight, but even if they don’t, they will both know that they are vital parts of the England setup moving forward thanks to their play in the final third.

Foden and Grealish are both skilful and creative in the final third, with Gareth Southgate ultimately having an embarrassment of riches in the final third.

England’s coach aren’t too happy with the pair, with Foden sharing all to The Diary Room ahead of tonight’s final.

Foden noted that Grealish or Mason Mount are the most technically-gifted players in the England squad, and both Foden and Grealish love to mess around pinging balls to each other without letting the ball touch the ground.

Foden admitted that England coaches are ‘not too happy’ with that, seemingly wanting them to focus on other things – but they’re still able to do it after training.

“Technically? Probably Jack or Mase, being the best,” said Foden. “Me and Jack after training just love to spray the balls in the air and keep it up and not let it touch the ground.”

“We try and fit that in after training. The coaches are not too happy, but we always try to do it after training,” he added.
