Some Celtic fans have offered a mixed reaction to reports coming from The Daily Mail.
According to that outlet, Celtic are going back to sign Liverpool centre-back Ben Davies
The 25-year-old snubbed a move to Parkhead in January in favour of joining the Premier League giants, who were in dire need of central defenders at the time.
But as it were, snubbing Celtic looked a horrendous decision in football terms because the former Preston North End powerhouse – who earns £60,000 per week at Anfield – still, to this day, hasn’t made his debut for the English side.
According to The Mail, the Hoops are trying to sign the big man on loan.
But here’s how some fans of the Glasgow outfit reacted to the news on Twitter:
Good signing?
Well, yes and no.
The reason why Davies is at the club he’s at is because he was considered among the Championship’s best defenders.
And that fact alone certainly makes you think that he could be a very decent signing by Celtic.
But by the same token, loan deals are no good.
It’s much better for the Bhoys and new manager Ange Postecoglou if it’s a permanent deal. There’s much more commitment from the player and the club in that case.
Shane Duffy was a loan signing last summer and that turned out pretty horribly; not that it would’ve made a difference if the Irishman had signed on a long-term basis, but a player’s mentality has to be a little different when they know that they’re joining a club for good as opposed to for being just nine months.
