Speaking on the Don Robbie YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on Everton’s Richarlison amid links to Real Madrid.
The Brazilian has reportedly been directly contacted by Carlo Ancelotti about a potential move to the Spanish capital, but Romano says that the Toffees are convinced that the player will stay for at least another year.
What’s been said?
Romano gave an update on Richarlison and Real Madrid.
“I am told that Rafa Benitez is directly working with the player to talk with him and to tell him to stay at Everton for one more season about the project. They want him to stay and Everton are fighting to keep Richarlison,” Romano said.
“What I am told about Real Madrid is that they’re looking for something different in the attacking position. They want to go for Mbappe or maybe nothing this summer. Because they have the obsession with Mbappe, maybe this summer or the next one.
“With Richarlison at the moment there’s nothing going on with Real Madrid, it is about Everton. Ok, Ancelotti loves the player, but it’s about Everton talking with him to stay, and they are convinced that he can stay for one more season, this is what Benitez wants.”

Win for Benitez
This is great news for Everton and particularly their new manager.
Losing Richarlison this summer would have been a huge blow for the new Everton boss, but it looks as though they’ve dodged this bullet.
Of course, if Real Madrid come calling, it will be hard for Richarlison to turn them down, but it may be something that is more likely to happen next year rather than this summer.
