Fans of the hit anime series ‘The Rising of the Shield Hero’ will be disappointed to hear that season 2 has been delayed, but a new release date has been revealed.

It’s been over two years since the season 1 finale of The Rising of the Shield Hero aired; it’s a good thing anime fans are so patient.

However, that patience is going to be tested once again, with recent confirmation of a delay to the sequel season.

Now, fans around the world are wondering when Naofumi and company will return for another adventure?

The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2: Release date

  • The Rising of the Shield Hero season 2 will release in April 2022, following a delay to the original Fall 2021 premiere window.

The anime series was officially renewed at the 2019 Crunchyroll Expo, with a release date set for October 2021.

However, it was recently confirmed that the second season had been delayed until April 2022.

A reason for the delay was not revealed, but is expected to be related to the ongoing issues with production in Japan caused by the pandemic.

Where to watch RSH season 1…

The Rising of the Shield Hero season 1 is currently available to stream on Crunchyroll and Funimation, as well as both Amazon Prime and Netflix (only in selected territories).

Fans can expect season 2 to be simulcast on either Crunchyroll or Funimation, before arriving on other platforms several months later after the finale.

Season 2 voice cast and staff…

We are expecting the same voice cast and staff from season 1 to reprise their roles, with the only change being Masato Jinbo replacing Takao Abo as series director.

  • Asami Seto as Raphtalia (Nobara from Jujutsu Kaisen)
  • Rina Hidaka as Filo (Silica/Keiko Ayano from Sword Art Online)
  • Yoshitaka Yamaya as Itsuki Kawasumi (Tomohito Sugino from Assassination Classroom)

The second season’s sound director will be Fumiyuki Gou (Overlord), music by Kevin Penkin (Tower of God) and produced by Kinema Citrus (Made in Abyss) and DR Movie (Onyx Equinox).
