Nuno Espirito Santo has pushed the greenlight on Tottenham Hotspur to make a signing, according to a report.
Spurs are heavily linked with a move for Barcelona playmaker Miralem Pjanic.
The former Juventus star joined the Camp Nou club for £55 million in 2020 but the Spanish giants are widely reported to be looking for suitors for the player following a poor first season at the club.
Tottenham are among those linked and Sport have today reported that newly-appointed head coach Nuno has sanctioned a move for the player.
But the report adds that a return to Turin is most appealing to the player by virtue of the fact that’s where he played his best football.
Tottenham need him
The Lilywhites are heavily expected to bolster their backline in light of the defensive issues that they have faced in recent years, even under Jose Mourinho.
But Tottenham also need some creative talent.
They haven’t really replaced Christian Eriksen following the Dane’s move to Inter Milan 18 months ago and Pjanic is very much of a similar ilk.
The 31-year-old managed 41 assists and 22 goals during his time with Juventus, encompassing 178 games in all competitions, and Tottenham could really do with someone who pulls those sort of figures.
